The school

York School of English is situated in the charming historic university city of Cracow, southern Poland - one of the most beautiful cities in Central Europe, the old capital of Poland, home to kings and queens, the cultural and academic centre for centuries. The academic character of the city (the Jagiellonian University, founded in 1364 and about 10 other colleges) lots of cultural events going on all year plus... uncountable international restaurants, little cafes, pubs & wine bars with their unique atmosphere - make Cracow one of the most enjoyable places to live and work in the world. We are situated near the city centre with very good access to public transport and free parking. We own two cottage style buildings and rent extra premises in a modern public school and the XVI century mansion just walking distance away.
 
York School of English is a well established language school with 21 years of tradition. The school was recognized in 1991 by Ministry of Education, in 1997, 2001 and 2003 by PASE (Polish Association for Standards in English the equivalent of the British Council in Britain and the associate member of European EAQUALS). York can be proud of its own beautiful and comfortable premises and the school's unique homely atmosphere.

The school employs both native speakers (mainly British & American) and Polish teachers of English whose work is coordinated by the Director of Studies, ADOS' and Methodological Consultants. All York teachers meet regularly at staff meetings, in-house and external methodological workshops and the tandem teachers cooperate on a weekly basis.

There are currently about 1000 students at the school, ages 7-8; 9-10; 11-12; 13-15; 16-19 and adults 19+ from beginners to post-proficiency level. The maximum number of students in a group is 9 (adults), 10 (primary school children)and 12(teenagers). The school uses the most recent British materials, it has a staff room, a resource centre, photocopying facilities, the computer room and an e-c@fe with free INTERNET access. York offers extra programmes to students: Kids & Teens Club, Conversation, Discussion, Pronunciation, Writng Clubs, organizes garden parties, Halloween & Christmas events. The latter two being held in its cosy fire lit chambers.

York School of English cooperates with Quality English schools and St Giles International (London, Brighton, Eastbourne), English Select (Cambridge), The Oxford English Centre, English in York and many other schools - all schools are recognized by the British Council and Arels - York sends its clients to the above mentioned schools mainly for summmer courses.
